Our Story

A Taste of Nepal, Since the 7th Century

Momo is more than a dish — it is a meeting point of cultures, history, and shared traditions. Its story traces back to the 7th century, when Nepalese Princess Bhrikuti married Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo, symbolising a cultural exchange between Nepal and Tibet. From this connection emerged a culinary heritage that continues to unite people across generations.

Born in the Himalayas and loved across Asia, momo has travelled through centuries and across continents, becoming a global comfort food. Today, NZ MOMO brings that same spirit of connection, sharing the authentic taste of Nepal to the heart of Kiwis.

As momo once journeyed beyond the mountains, NZ MOMO now aspires to share Nepalese culture, warmth, and flavour throughout New Zealand and beyond. Join us in celebrating culture, community, and the unforgettable taste of Nepal.
